Angela Hardy, Visual Artist
What do Angela Hardy and Leonardo Da Vinci have in common? They both have artwork on display at The Louvre. But Da Vinci never had the spectacular lights of the Aurora Borealis to inspire him, as Angela did while growing up in Wabush, Labrador. She studied fine arts in Stephenville and Halifax, but her big break came when a friend encouraged her to enter a competition for the 157th edition of the Societe des Beaux-Arts (SNBA), which showcases the work of 600 international artists at the Louvre every year. Now, the work of this portrait and figurative painter can be found among prestigious art collections, on the cover of international art magazines, and yes, under the same roof as the Mona Lisa. Oh, and Angela often paints portraits of herself, putting all our selfies to shame.
