Brad Peyton, Filmmaker
Brad Peyton’s favourite movie as a kid growing up in Gander was Major League. But he didn’t choose a career in baseball; he plays in the big leagues of filmmaking, directing Hollywood blockbusters like San Andreas. While at film school in Toronto, Brad caught industry eyes with a short film he made on a shoestring budget. He made his feature film directorial debut with the children’s comedy Cats and Dogs: Revenge of Kitty Galore. These days, he’s working with much bigger animals – namely, an enormous gorilla, wolf, and crocodile in his 2018 science fiction film, Rampage. He also often works with large humans, like Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Though Brad makes his living in LA, he never forgets where he came from. He even returned home to the Rock (not Dwayne… Newfoundland!) to direct four episodes of beloved local show, Republic of Doyle.
